Côte d’Ivoire / Ivory Coast

With almost one million tons per year, Côte d'Ivoire is the largest rubber producer in Africa and thus the sixth largest rubber producer in the world after India. TIMBERFARM has been active and present in Côte d'Ivoire for about two years. A large part of the rubber volumes traded by the GloReg division originates from here. In the first half of 2020, Côte d'Ivoire's rubber production will be lower than last year. In addition, the rubber price set by the national agency (APROMAC) in Côte d'Ivoire based on the international stock trading price is still (too low), which makes GloReg's trading activities difficult in some cases. In some cases, they have resulted in farmers and producers cooperating with TIMBERFARM having little motivation to sell their rubber crops. The usefulness of the newly established African subsidiary TIMBERFARM Africa SARL, recently established in the economic center of Côte d'Ivoire in Abidjan, is already very encouraging. Thanks to this African headquarters, trade and business relations within and outside Côte d'Ivoire (especially the African rubber strongholds in nearby Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria) can now be established quickly and efficiently. The first TIMBERFARM containers of raw rubber from Ghana have already been shipped to Latin America.
